Dune

Sossusvlei Area (Desert Hills and We Kebi Safari Lodge)

  • Enjoy the magnificence of the Namib dunes in all their splendour. The day starts early, as the desert sun quickly heats the sand. Once inside the park, it is another hour drive to the actual vlei (Afrikaans word for a ‘marsh’). Here you can climb the monstrous Big Daddy dune, see the ancient Deadvlei and have a refresher with our lunchpacks under the massive old camel thorn trees. You can round of your day with a quick visit to Sesriem Canyon, and if you are lucky, even have a swim in its cool waters.

Swakopmund Area (Ocean House Guesthouse)

Sandwich harbour trips (Service provided by external contractors)

  • Spend the day along the beautiful coastline South of Walvis Bay into the protected area known as ‘Sandwich Harbour’. The trip is very scenic, but also delivers a rush of adrenalin as your driver charges up the massive sand dunes with specialized vehicles. A light lunch with oysters and sparkling wine is normally served at the harbour lookout point.

Boat trips and Mola Mola tours

  • Take a boat trip, normally from Walvis Bay Harbour, and experience the desert from a different perspective. Guests also regularly get visited by seals and pelicans, keep an eye out for dolphins, and occasionally guests have the pleasure of seeing the elusive sun fish or mola mola.


Fishing along the coast

  • Go with a trained and kitted angler to try your luck at pulling in ‘a big one’. The Namibian coastline is very well known for its good fishing all year round.
